July 4, 2019 will go down in history for the city of Charlevoix. The bascule bridge revealed its new visage for the hundreds of citizens sprawled on lawns, perched on side-walks, and gazing from the water at the synchronized bridge beat.

Silver Linings Charlevoix is responsible for the endeavor with the help of the community and sponsors. The bridge inited in honor of Paul Belding, long time resident of Charlevoix who passed away in 2017.

The coordinator of the Charlevoix Bridge Project is Leilani Durbin and was a longtime friend of Belding.

"Unfortunately Paul’s life was cut short but having his dream come to light will be a reminder to the community he loved for all of us to be generous with our time and heart, and that life is not a dress rehearsal.
" Durbin said.
